In addition to my private practice I have worked as a counsellor at a health centre in a multi cultural area of Leeds and also at a community college, offering therapy to both young and mature students and to staff.
I have a post graduate diploma in TA psychotherapy from Leeds Metropolitan University and a Certificate in Cognative Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I am a qualified couples counsellor and I have trained in bereavement counselling with Cruse Bereavement Care. I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy(BACP) and a member of the Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA). More information about Transactional Analysis is given below.
The counselling and therapy service I offer is professional and confidential. I comply with the ethics and standards of the Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy(BACP). I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
Central to the philosophy of Transactional Analysis (TA) is the fundamental worth of all human beings. Transactional Analysis also embraces valuing and respecting others, indicated by the expression ‘I’m OK, You’re OK’.
TA works on the basis that each person is responsible for themselves and is capable of changing how they think, feel and behave. TA gives you a way to understand how you interact with other people, which, together with a theory of personality, can be used to help you make the changes you want.
Through discussion, I will develop an understanding of what you would like to achieve and together we will work towards reaching those goals. If you are motivated and your goals are realistic, your desired changes can be made, enabling you to live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
